Play therapy now available…

We are are delighted to announce that we now able to offer play therapy to children of primary school age on Thursday mornings.

Our evolving vision…

Our fortieth anniversary has prompted us to take a fresh look at what we do to ensure we are meeting the needs of our community. A survey of clients and stakeholders and consultation with partners led to several new ideas but the message that came through most strongly was the rising demand for affordable counselling and calls for us to extend provision of our services. In response we have extended our opening hours and are taking on additional counsellors. Additionally we now offer play therapy for primary school age children, responding to calls for greater provision for young people. We will continue to review our service as we seek to meet the needs of our community.

Sevenoaks Counselling in the Sevenoaks Chronicle…

October saw Sevenoaks Counselling featured in the Chronicle as we celebrated 40 years of serving our community. The Chronicle said:

“It was an evening of celebration, reflection and pride on Tuesday evening (3rd October) as Sevenoaks Counselling marked its 40th Anniversary.  Since 1983, the charity has provided affordable support to thousands of clients, helping them to lead happier, healthier, more fulfilled lives and in doing so benefitting many thousands of others among their family, friends and society.

The event, held at St Mary's Church Centre, Kippington, saw counsellors past and present, members of the Sevenoaks community and local dignitaries come together to celebrate four decades of the counselling service. There was also a chance to look towards the future with Head of Counselling, Sue Surgenor announcing the new appointments of a deputy, a play therapist and more couples and young people counsellors as the service strives to meet the needs and challenges faced by the community. An exhibition displaying letters of reflections from past clients, counsellors and trustees was unveiled on the night and provided many thoughtful and moving memories of the service, illustrating its importance to both them and the wider community.”
